The election for officers was at the Pa State Championship.

Does anyone know who won what?

Hopefully think will start to move forward for all the shooters in PA.

Good Luck to the new officers whoever they are!

It is really hard to believe that we have around 800 members and only 82 people voted for who was going to be president!

Does anyone else see a problem with this?

I am hoping to see some big changes from Rick and Mike to move this state forward.

We have been stuck in the mud way to long!

Why does this surprise you?  About 10 percent participation is the normal average of participation in most States.  Ninety percent of the membership nationally isn't really concerned with how the State associations or the  NSCA functions, and rarely participate in anything to do with the day to day operation of these organizations.  They just don't care.  All that they are interested in is that they have some place to shoot, and that it doesn't cost too much.

The NSCA has a membership of around 25,000 or so members, yet the two biggest events of the year, the National Championships and the U.S. Open only draw 750 to around 1000 shooters out of that 25K base.  Lot's of "joiner's" but not so many "participant's".  Some like to be "involved" while others join and become "committed" to an organization.

One of the best examples I ever heard regarding  being "involved" as opposed to being "committed" was in the definition of the average breakfast of ham and eggs, where the Chicken was "involved" while the Pig was "Committed."

It don't but I care about the things that go on in my state!!

I think every member should have a chance to vote not just the few at the state shoot.

We have been stuck in the mud way to long!

Terry, I don't think you meant it this way, but that statement of yours in unfair, untrue, and does a disservice to the hard work, success, and accomplishments of the PSCA Board Members over the last 12 years.  PA Shooters are fortunate to have had a dedicated number of people put in countless non-compensated hours to maintain and grow our sport in PA!

I've shot every PA State Shoot for the last 12 years.  Compare our state shoot to the US Open (you were there as was I).  Gun Giveaways at the Open--NO  Gun Giveaways at the State Shoot--YES  Ammunition Giveaways at the Open--NO  Ammunition Giveaways at the State Shoot--YES  Door Prizes at the Open--NO  Door Prizes at the State Shoot--YES
US Open Costs-- WAY HIGHER THAN OUR STATE SHOOT!  Shooting Venue   The State Shoot Venue was Superb--the US Open, not so much:-(  Target Quality?  I'd rate them as roughly equal but the State Shoot had a much better variety of targets.

When you consider all the criteria, out State Shoot was a better VALUE and, at least, an equivalent shooting experience to the US Open.

Terry, that didn't happen by accident.  The PSCA Board deserves full credit (along with the sponsoring clubs) for the quality of our state shoots.  I understand that either 95 or 96 was pretty much FUBAR.  Well. . . why didn't that level of mediocre performance continue?

The PSCA Board  did TWO THINGS that have made our last 7 or 8 State Shoots a model of how a big shoot should run.  NUMBER ONE:  They developed criteria for any club hosting a state shoot and revised and modified that criteria based on experience.  NUMBER TWO:  The PSCA Board originated the concepts of E & W Zone Shoots.  This was a brilliant idea!  It in effect created a "AAA farm system" for clubs to learn how to hold and manage a large shoot.  I managed the first Zone Shoot in PA at Great Pitt gun club.  Those Zone Shoots became the Training Ground for clubs wanting to hold a State Shoot.  The PSCA Board subsidized the Zone Shoots to make it happen.  Now. . . . a small, or unknown club, won't likely be selected for a State Shoot unless they've successfully managed a Zone Shoot.

Now!  The Zone Shoots are stand-alone, worthy events, in and of themselves.  When we have "experienced" clubs competing for Zone and State Shoots -- we PA shooters have the best of all worlds.

Terry!  That is what PA shooters have now.  Quality and Value, provided by experienced clubs!  We're NOT perfect.  But we are FAR from being 'stuck in the mud.

Terry--I think I know you well enough to know you did not mean to disparage anyone.  I hope you'll forgive my "sermon."?

BUT MOST PA SHOOTERS, don't realize that the quality of our competitions and of our clubs today, is the direct result of hours and hours of work by every person who has served on the PSCA Board over the last 12 years.

Those folks always get the brickbats, but seldom get the bouquets!

I did not mean to disparage anyone!

I just think it is time for a change.

This years state shoot was the best I have been to.

Thunder Ridge Sporting Clays did a great job!!!

The course was the best.

Giving guns away is a good thing for the people who win them.     I think we should do something to help all the shooters not just 8 of them.

We need to move forward to find a way to get more people to the shoots.

The old board did an ok job but we need to on to try to make things better.

The members should have more of a voice in what goes on.

Just my opinion!

WOW!!

All of those purple words of wisdom from a C class shooter that finshed next to last in C class.

Yea and you're the guy we should listen to about comparing the state targets to the open targets right.

Oh I know why, you missed more of them that's why you are the better judge...........right?!?!

Muddpuppy,

That added nothing to this post!

What difference does it make what class you are in to be able to see what is going on around you.

Do you have a problem with people that are in "C" class.

As far as being last I am in "AA" class and I am last a lot but I have great time doing it.

The next time you have a thought just let it go!

Get your facts straight Mudpuppy!  It' B Class!

Everyone pays the same money regardless of class but, by the way, what class are YOU in?

I don't understand the emphasis put on class with respect to observing targets. What class a shooter is in has no bearing on whether or not the targets were as good as some other clubs targets. I feel what really matters is how many different types of targets the shooter has seen and where they were seen. A shooter who only shoots 1 or 2 clubs cannot tell me about world class targets, but a shooter who shoots all over the country, or world for that matter, really has a good idea about what is out there for target presentations. The skill level of the shooter has no bearing on whether the targets are world class or so-so. Just my two cents.

If you look at the shooters in this state we have alot of them who shoot alot of registered targets but do not support the state shoot so that alone should put up a flag to the board.  Everyone pays a mandatory 3 cents a target to the state which was supposed to be a one year trial like 5 years ago and we now sit on a vast amount of money.  Why shouldn't these shooters have a voice and be able to cast a vote for the officers whom call the shots for this organization by ballot, instead we conduct the vote every other year when it is in the eastern part of the state. No different than with the shoots awarded.   We had a NSCA seat open up and there was a ballot sent out for a vote with one name on it and what does this position really do?   That is why we have had numerous people walk away from it in the past.
