I know where I'll be going (yes I do live here) because as well as a proven shooting ground and we have:
best Sauvignon Blanc in the World, the reds arn't bad either.
its Salmon and trout fishing season (all wild no farmed),
hunting of Red, Fallow, Sambar, Rusa, White tail deer, Elk, Chamois and Tahr covering both Islands.
Nothing that creeps, crawls, bites,
pleasant weather at that time of year
Scenery to die for, just look at Lord of the Rings!!!
The currancy conversion is good infavour of visitors
Hunters/shooters are WELCOME in NZ
Targets set by a good POM Graham Brown of Laporte fame.
The ground has hills and gullys, is not flat like  San Antonio
and the beer is full strength and very drinkable

Fossil is a hoot!!! Put Rio Brazos on your agenda (very near Houston) great place to shoot. Westside Shooting Grounds ain't bad either!!!(Also close to Houston and home to the Brister Open) I would gladly serve as your guide sir.

I'll be there in January actually, have car (no gun), Dallas, College station and Houston, with time to shoot a few rounds, gotta shoot somewhere since I won't be in New Zealand for the Worlds.     Look out for a guy with a funny accent at a club near you!!!
